    Unlikely that 76017 will be seen there again for a good long time or even might not be seen there again as it's possibly got a new home up north. However on a positive note 76017 might be about to become the 3rd member of it's class to work on the mainline in preservation as when it left it by rail behind a class 33 for hire to the Bluebell Railway, afterwards instead of returning to the MHR it got towed to Southall. It could be going to Carnforth as realtime says there's a path for Dec 8th 2022 from Southall to Carnforth but we'll only know for sure in a few days if this will be for 76017 as 44871's supposed to be going home after a trip on Dec 6th 2022, would be ideal for the black 5 to tow the standard 4 north.

    One day I will see these running. I grew up on beside the Reading-Tonbridge line at Dorking so the sound of them is beyond familiar. The noise when they're idling at the station is particularly reminiscent. They were quite intimidating beasts when I was a kid in the 70s!! There's definitely something of the valenta about them... 4:45 is a wonderful shot, a fair gradient too.

    Reminds me of endless school journeys, especially on summer days, behind them on the Portsmouth-Fareham line. The only breakdown I remember was when the brakes jammed on on our carriage at Cosham station, due to a valve that had actually failed at Fratton.

    Always kinda saw her as “cute” if you could call a locomotive that. Smaller than almost every tender engine I’ve seen, aside from narrow gauge.

      It wasn't originally. The restoration group have added in the CEP and Mk1 coach to provide additional seating and buffet facilities for rail tours.

    I spent many an hour on that station platform as a young lad 'train-spotting' in the 1960's. Saw 'Clan Line' on a few occasions and actually sat in the driving cab of her once at an Open Day at Eastleigh locomotive/engineering works. Great days. Never thought I'd witness the likes of this again decades later on UA-cam. Fabulous.
